Brighten the Holidays, Feel the Joy

The Baldwin Center has 250 families with children registered  to receive holiday assistance.  Each family will receive a Holiday Basket complete with fixings for a turkey dinner as well as dry goods and fresh produce to supplement meals for more than a week.  The same families will also shop for gifts at the Holiday Store.  Our goal is to have selections of socks, underwear, pants, shirts, and outerwear as well as modest gifts so that Christmas in each household includes every family member.

These holiday experiences, provided at no cost to our Pontiac neighbors, are made possible through the amazing generosity of donors and volunteers like you.  Individuals, churches, businesses, and university groups donate money, gifts, and hours of their time every year in support of the Baldwin Center’s holiday program.

Thanks to the efforts of 80 Chrysler volunteers who came Friday and moved furniture, assembled shelves, papered windows, hung sheets, hauled bags, and organized stock,  the classrooms of the Youth Center have begun their transformation to Holiday Store shopping rooms.  Many more volunteers have given and will give of their time in the coming week to distribute the food and staff the store.

In preparation to provide for 1200 individuals, we have noticed a need in two areas.  The stock of new gifts is very sparse for teen boys and men in every size and type of clothing and non-clothing item.  We also need boxed dessert mixes, Jello, gravy,  jelly, and cereal for Holiday Baskets that will be packed by Genisys CU employees and associates Wednesday evening.
