Baldwin now collecting school supplies

Help Collect School SuppliesBaldwin Center is currently accepting donations of school supplies and backpacks for its annual backpack give away.  The donations will be distributed first to participants of Baldwin’s summer enrichment program and then to area students beginning at Baldwin’s Back to School Yard Party on September 1st.  Last year over 600 backpacks were distributed.

“Coming to school with all the necessary supplies helps a child start the school year out right.  We want to make sure every child arrives at school ready to learn and we also want to stress to the child how important getting an education is to their future success,” according to Baldwin’s executive director Lisa Machesky.  Baldwin is expecting higher demand this year due to the area’s economic situation.

Supplies needed include:

Backpacks • Big Pencils • Calculators • Folders • Markers • Pencil Cases

Highlighters • Erasers • Color Pencils • Scissors • Composition Books

Paper • Glue Sticks • Binders • Pens • Rulers • Notebooks

Donations of school supplies can be dropped off at Baldwin Center at 212 Baldwin Avenue, Pontiac.  Call 248.332.6101 for further information.  Financial donations can be sent to Baldwin Center, PO BOX 420700, Pontiac, MI  48343-0700 or online at www.baldwincenter.org.
