OU Soccer Kicks-off with Baldwin Center

As student-athletes at Oakland University are kicking off the soccer season, they are helping students in Pontiac kick off the year right. During the men’s and women’s soccer season-openers this month, the teams will collect school supplies to support Baldwin. In exchange for bringing backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, or other supplies, fans and attendees of the soccer games will receive $2 off admission. In this way, the soccer teams are making a deep impact on the lives of kids by integrating community service into their season.

School supplies are being collected at the gate, and admission will be $2 off. The Back to School Bash is a yearly service offered for the neighborhood boys and girls as a way to get the school year kicked-off right. This year, Baldwin expects to help over 600 school-aged boys and girls, by outfitting each with a backpack stuffed with important school supplies. Donations (see a comprehensive list here) are being accepted through the week of August 20. Volunteers are needed to help sort and stuff supplies, for the party on Thursday August 30. OU’s mascot The Grizz will be on-site that afternoon.
